Licensed Therapist & Founder

Kimberly Courtney

I am a licensed therapist with a Master's Degree in Education, specializing in Clinical Mental Health with a concentration in special populations, and I have been working in mental health arenas since 1997. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of individuals, from children and adolescents to adults facing some of the most challenging mental health conditions. My experience spans private practice, community mental health, and state-run facilities, where I worked with individuals struggling with severe mood disorders, addiction, and trauma. I have also spent time working with individuals found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity in high-intensity forensic settings and Justice-involved individuals with severe mental illness, providing care in high-intensity forensic settings. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health and the resilience of the human spirit.

Throughout my career, I have developed a specialty in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), helping clients manage their emotions, challenge irrational thought patterns, and develop healthier coping strategies. I am passionate about empowering people to take control of their mental well-being, whether they are dealing with depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, or relationship challenges. Now, through my private practice, I bring this experience to a broader audience, offering individual therapy for those seeking personal growth and emotional stability, as well as group therapy for couples looking to strengthen their relationships. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and results-driven space where individuals can make meaningful changes in their lives. Helping people navigate their struggles and find their own path to healing has been my life's work, and I am honored to continue this journey with each person I serve.

I am verified by Psychology Today and am also proud to be affiliated with the National Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) and the Virginia Association of Addiction Professionals (VAAP), furthering my commitment to supporting individuals with addiction and mental health challenges.
